The Michigan Scientific Transportation Products bridgeplate is the most technically advanced bridgeplate available. It was designed to meet, or exceed, all AAR's M951-03 requirements. The MSTP bridgeplate provides exceptional value because it is virtually maintenance free when used in accordance with AAR and local procedures.
The MSTP bridgeplate is constructed from high-strength steel. Special attention was given to minimizing weight, while still providing excellent strength and durability. A tough steel bridgeplate is harder than railcar deck hardware that gouges current aluminum plates.
The hinge assembly is constructed from a swaged steel tube, eliminating damage prone parts. Threaded fasteners attaching the hinge assembly to the bridgeplate have prevailing torque nuts that will not loosen during service.
The MSTP bridgeplate incorporates many important safety features. For example, a high-traction top surface is bonded on rather than painted on, and the high surface hardness prevents wear.
The Michigan Scientific Transportation Products bridgeplate is virtually immune to all environmental conditions. The steel selected for this application has been validated for use in extreme hot and cold environments. It also has excellent resistance to ultraviolet light, acid rain, and other common environmental contaminates.
Manufacturing quality is assured using recognized statistical process control systems.
